The all new Crabber 12 is a fun and versatile dinghy - premiering at the London Boat Show.
Designed by David Thomas, one of the UK’s most prolific sailing yacht designers, she is set to be a stunning entry level boat for the Cornish Crabbers range
This unique little dinghy can be enjoyed solo or with crew. Capable of carrying up to 3 people when sailing, her easily handled high peaked Gunter rig and seamanlike freeboard will make her a great all rounder for family fun day-sailing or even some ‘one design’ race training for the younger crews.
Technically, the Crabber 12 is optimised for excellent performance. Her slim entry and clean straight lines to the stern will minimise twist & squirm in a following sea. A sturdy triangular keel section will protect the bottom when beaching and a modern self draining internal cockpit moulding incorporates storage for an optional electric outboard engine. The cockpit volume is also designed to minimise the effect of ‘over buoyancy’ if capsized which in turn makes righting much easier.
With head-turning style and quality you can trust the Crabber 12 will fill the gap at the dinghy end of the Cornish Crabbers range admirably, catering for every level of dinghy sailor looking for maximum enjoyment.

Construction.
The Crabber 12 is a combined structure of GRP infusion moulded Hull and Deck mouldings joined at a roll over gunwale. The internal structure and cockpit supports are from sealed marine plywood. The seats are individually sealed to provide independent buoyancy compartments in case of hull breach. The standard hull colour is Cornish Blue with off white below the lower chine. The standard deck colour is Off White with a non slip finish is standard on the horizontal deck surfaces.
On Deck / cockpit
All blocks and deck fittings are by Allen Brothers and fixed into encapsulated plywood deck pads. Rudder & centreplate foils are machined from marine plywood and finished in high gloss white with a varnished rudder stock & tiller complete with tiller extension. The teak internal handholds on the main seating and aft quarter seats are standard. A painter is also included.
Rig
The main mast is from 64mm anodised aluminium tube with integral main halyard and spinnaker halyard sheaves as standard. The gaff and boom are from Sitka Spruce and finished with high gloss varnish. The standard mainsail is attached via a bolt rope at the gaff and lacing in way of the mast section. Standing rigging is in 1x19 stainless wire with adjustable shroud plates and a lashing tension system on the forestay. The mast gate and foot assembly is machined from durable 18mm polywood. All associated running rigging for the standard ‘mainsail only’ rig including mainsheet, kicker, clew outhaul and Cunningham haul comes as standard.
