How did Shrimpers get to the USA?

Thursday, 01 March 2012

Forum Marine have been the distributor for Mystery Yachts for over a year. However, we were delighted when they recently took on the Cornish Crabbers range as well!

Thomas Duhen first found out about our Cornish Crabbers and their reputation for excellent quality in his homeland - France. However, the subsequent discovery of the Mystery range at London Boat Show 2011 really got the ball rolling for a US distributorship and a brilliant working relationship was born.

Duhen describes the Mystery range as "Real sailing boats for proper sailing adventures. Beautiful classic boats that you can sleep, cook, eat and do the navigation on comfortably and safely in open seas. In addition to this, the Mystery 35 offers a modern, fast hull, as well as a modern and efficient sail plan. We loved the boat and we took her on even without doing a test sail, as it was obvious how she would perform"

Duhen is certain that the Mystery range could be successful in some areas of the US market: New England, Mid-Atlantic, Great Lakes and Northern West Coast and he's made a great start.

The Mystery had many visitors at the Newport and Annapolis shows - some coming to the show specifically to see the Mystery 35. Whilst there, Duhen secured the first US buyer for the Mystery 35.

Now, Forum Marine have gone a step further and decided to import and distribute the Cornish Crabber line of boats in the US. The Cornish Shrimper 19 was shown for the first time at the Strictly Sail Chicago show, in January 2012. Needless to say, we were extremely pleased to hear how many visitor stopped to admire our beautiful Cornish Shrimper and that Thomas has left the show with hot leads!
